This is a workshop for the pet lover, or any one who likes to create! This fun felting technique makes the most of long wool fleece to create a felt that retains it's characteristic luster and curl. Our goal is to free up the felting process; avoid the tedious, methodical layout required in traditional flat felt, and have fun!
Make a rugged wool mat to protect your furniture, provide a favorite pet a cozy napping place, or add a touch of earthy texture to your home. Toss it in your car, on your couch or floor. The mat makes a nice throw even if you don't have pets. This is not a felt that replicates a raw fleece, but it does have beautiful texture.
We will be wet felting with uncarded, long wool fibers in natural, undyed colors to create our pieces. It is a very tactile, fragrant experience, and beginner friendly! If you have never felted with long wool, you will find it behaves differently than Merino. The technique you'll learn will be useful for felting any of the medium to coarse wool breeds. (My Bedlington Terrier Olive loves her fleece felt mat.)
A degree of physical stamina will be required in this workshop to produce a quality, dense felt. We will work standing up.
NOTE: We will be working in a heated tent with lots of water. Please wear shoes that are comfy to stand in, and sleeves you can push up to stay dry. Dress in layers for comfort
