Fully Functional Felted Forms: Felt-encased Glass Vessels - Sat AM LIMITED

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Limited Capacity seats available

Felted vessels are beautiful: rich colors, textural surface treatments, and the warmth and earthiness of wool combine to make an extraordinary piece of art.  Yet, even with a stiffener they do not hold water.  In order to make a vessel that is fully functional a vase must be encased in the felt.

In this introductory workshop each student will create a vessel that fully or partially covers a 10” glass cylinder.  Merino roving, silk, and various other fibers create a surface that is sophisticated yet durable!

This workshop will cover wet-felting basics but is also a great refresher for felters with some experience.

This workshop will be held in a heated tent, your hands will be in and out of water and you will be standing for most of the class.
