Design It! Custom Designed Garment from Start to Finish - CANCELLED
Limited Capacity seats available

If you've ever wanted to start from scratch to complete a pattern for yourself (or anyone else for that matter!) this is the class for you!

Cardi, pullover, tank or tee, we will start at the very beginning of the design process to create a pattern template by selecting the best shapes that fit different body types and sizes.

Next, we will add style elements like sleeve length, shaping, neckline, and trim treatments.

Once we have the shapes we want, we will move on to plugging in the numbers from your body measurements into your template for a custom fit.

As we work, you will learn elements of designing a pattern such as:

  • how to take correct body measurements
  • how to determine the best shapes and fit for different body types
  • how to create fabrics that function properly for the design you are creating
  • the basic math needed to calculate stitches and rows per inch and how to make those numbers fit your template
  • basic math for sizing your pattern based on sts and rows per inch and your chosen stitch pattern
  • turn those numbers into a pattern you can work from!
When we are finished, you will have a working template that you can use to create garments using any pattern stitch you choose.

Bottom line: You will leave this class with a pattern template you can use to make a custom fit crochet or knit garments for yourself… or anyone else for that matter! WOOHOO!!

Skills Required: Must know how to read a written pattern and should have a basic understanding of how a garment is put together (i.e. A garment is made up of separate parts that are put together to make one finished wearable.)

Please note:  This class will be in a heated tent.

Roving, Roving, Roving with Hooks or Sticks - CANCELLED
Limited Capacity seats available

Okay… maybe the song is a little bit of a stretch but come on… it’s funny… rove rove rove your boat… um… hooks…

We all know the joy of holding a new bundle of roving in our hands. The endless possibilities that these blank canvases of fabulous fiber conjure before our mind’s eye start our fingers to twitching and our thoughts turn to spindles, wheels, and rug latches. It’s a beautiful thing! But I submit for your consideration the addition of wielding a crochet hook or knitting needles and making FAB projects without all of that waiting for the roving to be spun into yarn. Instant gratification! Who doesn’t love that?

We will learn to work with roving to create yarn (sans wheels and spindles!) of varying weights so you can customize your finished project to reflect your own personal style and flare. Don’t have your own style and flare? That’s okay… we’ll show you some tricks along the way to use this FAB fun and unique way of working with roving to create projects you'll be proud of… and make your friends jealous of your new rove-stitching prowess!

Goals:

  • Learn which end of the hook to work with.
  • Split and pre-draft roving
  • Crochet a basic swatch with un-spun roving
  • Create your first project
Skills Required: Must know basic crochet (ch, sc, hdc, dc) and knit stitches

Please note:  This class will be held in a heated tent.
